Renovation of an existing storefront in the MainStreet District of Carlsbad, the Pecos Oasis is to be the high-end destination for cannabis products & accessories in Southeastern New Mexico.

The challenge for this store design was to comply with New Mexico Cannabis Regulations, which require visual obfuscation of cannabis products from public view, while maintaining an approachable, MainStreet style storefront. The design solution introduces an offset lobby wall to provide a visual barrier from the exterior, but allows for transparency from the interior space. Using this lobby space as a secure interstitial area for non-cannabis retail and credential verification. The sales floor features custom millwork retail cases & backbar shelving for product display and retail sales transactions. While the remainder of the space contains offices, shipping & receiving, and secure vaults for product storage; all protected by a start-of-the-art access control and security system.

As the name suggests, the aesthetic design of the Pecos Oasis is intended to evoke a sense of Leisure & Vacation, using clap-board style siding, natural wood tones, and traditional island imagery.
